Archdale-Trinity Home School Associates Inc. (ATHA)

Claytime, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization with a NC-certified art teacher who provides art classes to home schoolers and the general public. There are lessons every month from September to May. Classes are $10.00 for Home schoolers. Claytime also specializes in art classes for the mentally retarded and developmentally delayed (MR/DD). We are supported by voluntary donations, grants and memberships.

Description: We hold our monthly support meetings on the second Monday of each month at 7 pm at the Ruritan Club Bldg on Campground Rd. We bowl every other Friday, take monthly field trips, hold craft classes, park days and other "fun" activities through out the year. We focus on helping newhomeschool families get a good start, be a resource of information, and help families bond with like minded people with a common goal.

East Coast Homeschooling Organization

The East Coast Homeschool Organization (ECHO) meets every Thursday (Sept.-May) from 9am-12:30pm at the Jacksonville Bible Church located at 501 Anne St. in downtown Jacksonville, NC. Fall Registration is the first Thursday in August and Spring Registration is the second Thursday in January each school year. The co-op offers enrichment activities (academic/non-academic), field trips, community service events, Scholastic Book Clubs for toddlers-teens, and a "club day" once a month for those that want to meet less often for mainly social activities and features mom's enrichment activities (ie. guest speakers, planning sessions and mini-workshops). Co-op membership includes "club days" at no additional charge. ALL Co-op and Club Fees are due at registration day and are non-refundable.
ECHO participates in the Box Tops for Education program to provide additional funds needed for group activities or other financial obligations. Additional fundraisers may be scheduled as needed.
Fees for ECHO Co-op members each semester (2013-2014) include
: $25 per family for rent/utilities; $25 per family for liability insurance; $15 per family for membership; and activity fees that vary depending on the number of children in a family and the activities chosen. Co-op members may participate in club days without any additional fees. Field trip/community service event costs are the sole responsibility of each family attending them.
ECHO Club day fees each semester (2013-2014) include
: $25 per family for liability insurance; $10 per family for rent/utilities plus items on the backpack list for activities. Scheduled Club day activities run from 8:45am-11:30am, allowing time for lunch and travel for those attending field trips/events afterwards. Field trip/community service event costs are the sole responsibility of each family attending them.
ECHO is a parent-led organization. It is not a drop-off program. Parents are required to remain on campus during the entire meeting each week as well as any other ECHO-sponsored event attended. All parents must teach or assist with a minimum of two activities each meeting day during each semester and are expected to cover for missing members, as needed, to provide the supervision required for the safety of all of our children.
Families Advocating Christian Training (FACT)

Description: We are a group of Christian, homeschool families who have formed a support group. We have Mom's Meetings, PE classes, Music class, a Library class at our local library, and many field trip opportunities.This year we have approximately 25 families in our membership. And the children age in range from newborn through teen.
We would love to have more families in our area participate in our group.
Requirements: Each family is required to pay a yearly fee of $10 for membership. We do not require new homeschool families to have a job, but we encourage all members to help share the load of the group by volunteering for various jobs throughout the year.
Benefits: We have a monthly newsletter. We plan field trips as a group, and we have a homeschool lending library.

Inclusive Homeschoolers of Wilson

Description: PEACE-at-Home is a member-led homeschool support group with a membership of about 40 families. We are informal and inclusive, with no "structure" to speak of. Our membership includes children of all ages. Activities are member-generated. A Christian homeschool group offering weekly meetings, CAT Testing in April, several field trips a year, various playdates and game times. We have a membership fee of $15 a year and require a membership form and statement of faith.
Description: We meet at least once a month. We have activities that cover a broad range of ages. We do workshops, field trips, and various things. We offer the Achievement Test in April for those who need to take it. The cost varies each year but is very reasonable. We meet in both Roanoke Rapids and Littleton. We have members from Virginia and North Caroling since we are so close to the border.
Requirements: Dues is $15 for new members and those who sign up early. We have statement of faith to be signed and a waiver of liability for injuries. There is no mandatory attendance.
Benefits: We send out a newsletter bimonthly during school. We have planned field trips and outings, we also have a workshop we do. We also have a library with various things that can be checked out. We also offer an achievement test in April for those who need one. We also have people who do the Woodcock test for those who prefer that one. The fees vary.

Description: S.H.A.R.E. is a member led support group, welcoming allhomeschoolers.
Requirements: We require only that everyone show respect for one another and the choices that each individual family has made.
Benefits: We enter two competitions. Canon Envirothon, for middle/high school and Independent Battle of the Books for middle school. We have a yahoo discussion site, and also offer field trips, support meetings and park days, and an annual cook-out to kick off the year. We have primarily middle/high school age children, but all ages are welcome.
