Education Remedial Track

ED Anywhere offers several levels of remediation.  The most popular has been our Basic Learning Skills program.  This is an online assessment and remediation program.  It will pre-test the student down to the third grade level and up to the 11th grade level.  The focus of this program is with Reading, Grammar, Math and English.   After the pre-testing it will assigned sequential lessons for the student to complete before retesting the student.  ED Anywhere also provide online and live (phone) teacher support for this and all the services it offers.

 

Basic Learning Skills

Our educational Basic Learning Skills software helps students performing from third grade through ninth students master basic skills in reading, grammar, English and mathematics through this simple four-step process:

The software Tests students to determine basic skills deficiencies, Prescribes lessons to remediate the deficiencies, Teaches students the required basic skills, then Tests Again to ensure skill mastery.

The Prescription Builder software allows teachers to prescribe lessons based on results from many popular assessment tests. The attractive single-license, multi-license, and site-license pricing options guarantee you an affordable solution to fit your budget. Our software is used by thousands of students every day in ABE, GED, high school dropout prevention, school-to-work, welfare-to-work, college remediation, workplace literacy and correctional education programs across the United States and Canada.  Screens are simple and functional, keeping the student focused on the skills being taught. Graphics have been carefully chosen to supplement curriculum content - not replace it. Every lesson includes on-line help, on-line score reporting which allows students to track their own progress, and a bookmark feature which allows students to exit and resume a lesson at the same point.

The Basic Skills Series includes four sections: Reading, Grammar, Math, and English. Each section includes a progression of levels. Levels are further organized into programs, lessons, and instructional objectives.

The RecordKeeper makes student progress reports a snap to display on screen, print, or save to a file. For example, the comprehensive report shows raw score, percentage score, number of times begun and completed, completion status, and time-on-task for each objective and mastery test in a lesson. Summary reports are also included.

Features - Reading

The Basic Skills: Reading series includes four courses which logically progress in reading level from fourth grade upward. Lessons reflect the language and interest of adults. Skills are presented in a life-oriented context. Each course in the Basic Skills: Reading series provides instruction in the fundamentals of reading, including vocabulary skills, interpretations, reference skills, and following directions.

100RA-Following Directions

The first section of Following Directions 100RA emphasizes the interaction of directional concepts. Students follow directions to interpret compass points and to master the concepts of right and left. Many exercises in this program employ the symbols found in the alphabet, numerical symbols, and monetary symbols. Students identify the correct procedure to follow when telephoning in case of fire or danger. They are required to interpret and make simple calculations using money. Students figure ascents and descents on a set of stairs. In the last section of this program, emphasis is placed on the logical sequence of directions for filling out a form, taking a bath, preparing a meal, and using a cleaning product. Students must accurately interpret a table in order to answer questions concerning type size for printing.

Features - Grammar

The Basic Skills Grammar section includes two levels. Capitalization is one of five programs in the 200 Level.

200GA-Capitalization

Capitalization 200GA gives special attention to: the rules of capitalization; the function of capital letters in sentences; the capitalization of specific places and geographical names; and the capitalization of languages, proper nouns, literary titles, days of the week, months, holidays, historical events, and documents.

Features - Math

The Basic Skills Math section includes four levels. Addition is one of five programs in the 200 Level.

200MA-Addition

Addition 200MA covers addition of two-, three-, and four-digit whole numbers, money, proper and improper fractions, mixed numbers, and decimal fractions (up to hundredths). The work with fractions includes adding three mixed numbers containing like and unlike fractions and carrying. Other lessons require the student to express pairs of unlike fractions as like fractions and to rename fractions in higher terms. Some work with percents and measures is also presented.

Features – Career English

Building on the skills developed by the Basic Skills Series, the Career English Series quickly and effectively improves communication skills, with an emphasis on developing written communication skills. The career English series is designed for the use by adults in the workforce and by high school and college students. The Lessons in the series automatically adapt to the student’s progression and comprehension through the use of logical branching sequences; correct responses move the student forward through the lesson, while incorrect responses lead the student to supplemental information and explanation of the error. Immediate feedback is provided for all responses. A mastery test at the conclusion of each lesson ensures that the student masters each lesson before proceeding to the next. Student assignments and scores are automatically maintained by the included student record management system. The Career English Series includes an on-line pretest. Individualized lesson plans are automatically generated from the pretest results. The Career English Series includes eight courses which cover topics including punctuation, writing skills, sentence structure, usage, modifiers, connectives, phrases, and clauses. The 70 lessons in the Career English Series provides over 100 hours of instruction.

A True Tutorial System

Unlike other programs which use a drill-and-practice approach, our lessons automatically adapt to each student’s progress and comprehension through logical branching sequences. Immediate feedback is provided to the student for each answer. Correct answers move the student forward through the lesson while incorrect answers lead the student to supplemental information and an explanation of the error. A mastery test at the end of each lesson verifies performance before allowing the student to proceed to the next lesson.

The program uses the Prescription Builder to quickly create an individualized lesson plan from a student’s assessment results. Or, use the included pretests to test students and automatically prescribe appropriate lessons. Ten computer-delivered pretests in Basic Skills and eight in Career English ensure each student a comprehensive, individualized lesson plan to quickly remediate skill deficiencies.

Other Popular Remedial Program

ED Anywhere also offers remedial CRAM classes for student who are having difficulty in a particular call.  It will test the student introduce lessons not successfully passed and then retest.  This process will continue until the student has mastered the assigned classes.  We offer this for all of the middle and high school classes on our system.
